Sunday Blessings

Landon is part of the music ministry at church, so on Sunday mornings I fly solo.  The last few Sunday mornings have been a little on the rough side.  Brooke usually has some crisis, wakes up extra early, and then decides to wake up Lily and Lauren (who are NOT morning girls if woken up early).  We are usually are ready for church about two hours early, and that is how we get our little mini photo-shoots in.  I’m thankful for these little photo shoots though – they capture happiness, unique personalities and three sweet girls.

This morning was especially difficult as it’s been a physically trying week as well.  On top of pregnancy woes, I am trying to recover from bronchitis.  Add one little girl who I had to discipline all morning, and I almost threw in the towel and stayed home from church.  I got to church, saw Landon and immediately started tearing up.  Honestly, I was feeling so upset, lonely and weary that I just wanted to go back home.  I sat in the back of the sanctuary and started to feel sorry for myself.  I kept thinking about leaving.  Then my friend Sarah came back to get me to sit with her, and I held back the tears for most of the service….until the closing song.  As soon as the first words were sung, I couldn’t hold back the tears.  This song was exactly what I needed.  Click on the title to listen to the song if you have a few moments!

Never Once
Matt Redman

Standing on this mountaintop
Looking just how far we’ve come
Knowing that for every step
You were with us

Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much You’ve done
Knowing every victory
Was Your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can sayNever once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much You’ve done
Knowing every victory
Was Your power in usScars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

As I listened to everyone sing this song, I felt God’s love so deeply.  His embrace….His promise to never leave me alone.  I know my struggles are not as great as SO many out there, but for me right now it’s my battle.  It’s a daily struggle, but what a comfort to know that I’m not alone….that I have a faithful God holding my hand each step of the way.  The same faithful God that has brought me through many trials before, only to give me something good….something that is always better than I could have ever imagined.
