30 Day Photo Challenge – Week 1

I have FINALLY determined to really learn my camera.  I have been cruisin’ along on auto or AV/TV mode (gasp!) for the last year.  I’ve been terrified of switching to Manual, because the ONE time that I tried, I failed.  I’ve been getting a few great photos by on finding great light, and editing photos on Lightroom….but I decided I want to learn, and get better photos!

I started late one night looking on YouTube, and googling photography tutorials.  I came across Click it Up a Notch, and read a few of her posts.  It helped me understand the basic terms/functions of my camera so much better.  I switched my camera to Manual and haven’t gone back since.  🙂

I was inspired by her blog to do a personal 30 day challenge.  Let me tell you, it’s not easy to get the camera out daily.  I have been determined to try my hardest.  Since Beckham isn’t mobile, he is usually my model for all these.

IMG_2208I always photograph my cupcakes on a white chair in the nursery.  This cupcake sat there from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.  I remembered I left it in there when I heard the girls playing.  I could just see chocolate icing covering the entire room.  When I went in, I only saw little finger marks were someone had “sampled” the chocolate frosting.  Whew!

  1. yay for going into Manual–it is so scary, but so fun too!! And a 30 day challenge is good–the more you practice, the better you get! I can’t wait to see more–your kids are so beautiful and sweet.
